American Cockroach Behaviors, Threats, or Dangers

While a rare occurrence, American cockroaches can bite. Their most dangerous feature is their ability to spread bacteria to humans through their breeding and feeding near human areas. As they forage for food, they will dispose of germs and bacteria behind them which can lead to disease or allergic reactions for people sensitive to cockroaches. These cockroaches can contaminate human surfaces and food with their body parts and feces and have a distinct odor when present.
